It is a question which Zen Masters have been trying to answer for centuries. The most fundamental question. Who am I? I can talk about qualities that I possess which look like they answer this question. But these qualities will never give a total picture of who I really am.
I believe that the qualities we possess are like clay. They can be twisted and molded and stretched in many ways. And when an large external force interacts with clay, the change caused can be permanent.
This applies to "the qualities I possess" too. An external force (daily experiences/ interactions) can influence my existing qualities. And some experiences can be so harsh that they can completely change my outlook. The good can become bad. The calm, meditative person may become rash and angry. Like Harvey Dent in The Dark Knight. (I'm a Batman Fanboy)
As I keep dwelling in the nature of experiences I also notice that something is unchanging. Constant. The clay always remains a clay. It's "clayness" never vanishes.
This "Clayness" is what I am searching for. The unchanging quality. Quality is not the word but its the closest word that matches. But this "search" is still a journey. Its not who I am. Or maybe it is. Maybe I am just a traveler. Going from one experience to the next. A Nomad. A versatilist.
Most Importantly- I'm a man.
